Nick Chase is a native of Sackville, New Brunswick. Growing up surrounded by the beauty of the eastern coastline, Nick developed a deep appreciation and love of natural textures, patterns and palettes. This sensibility comes through in both his illustration and glasswork (Nick is also a renowned Canadian glass artist - check out his stunning work here).
Nick's pen-and-ink illustrations are characterized by delicate line work that conveys at once a sense of simplicity and intricate detail. Nick blends photography with much of his design work, and his urban and rural images are often the inspiration for his drawings. While he's very much inspired by natural landscapes and wildlife, his work also tends toward the slightly strange or unexpected. His playful clothing designs all originate as hand-drawn illustrations.
Nick is a graduate of Sheridan College's Craft and Design Program. He completed a residency at the Harbourfront Centre in downtown Toronto between 2010-2013. On top of his work at BLACKHARE, Nick is also a designer and studio technician at Jeff Goodman Studios.
